for the encouragement to give breastfeeding a try!

When I first started here, I had NO intention of trying at all. None.

Now here we are! It's not been plain sailing - I still can only get Roisin latched properly if I hold her under my arm, and although the left nipple is healing, I'm still expressing off that boob.

But every day is really special, and I have to admit I'm proud of myself!

Plus, no one told me about those major endorphins you get from it!

Oh, fantastic!!! (not that I have given you even an iota of help, so I'm not trying to take credit) but that's great. Well done you

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 14/12/2005 18:54

Good on you for giving it a go

EPIS, those endorphins are really fantastic aren't they? Also, you know that oxytocin is produced in breast milk too, so that's a double whammy hit of feelgood stuff for you & baby!

And well done for your achievements. It truly is a "voyage of discovery".

have i missed your birth announcememnt? when did u have her? what did she weigh? how old is she now?

c'mon keep me updated,

and well done on the breastfeeding.

mears · 15/12/2005 18:49

Well done Expat Hopefully you will get her onto both boobs soon. Once she is an expert latcher you will be able to get her on in any position. Breastfeeding becomes much more of a joy when babies know exactly what they are about

MistleToo · 15/12/2005 18:55

well done expat! I'm happy you're happy

hunkermunker · 15/12/2005 19:00

Brilliant, EPIS! I'm so pleased for you - you're right to be proud of yourself.

She will latch on in different positions, she just needs to get the hang of it. She's still very new and is learning loads every day.

But am for you - you're a star!

mandymac · 15/12/2005 19:03

Well done you. I just wanted to second Mears. I wasn't sure how long I would BF for, but it got easier and easier, (and good advice here helped me over the rough patches), we are just a week shy of 6 months of exclusive breastfeeding and planning to continue for a while yet.

More power to your elbow (and boobs) .

hunkermunker · 15/12/2005 19:03

(Well done to you, Mandymac - that's fab!)

mandymac · 15/12/2005 19:04

Thanks HM

Well done expat! I agree that the folks here are great!

It gets easier and better. Those hormones are lovely. Nothing wrong with an underarm hold - allows you to type with the other hand .

kiskidee · 15/12/2005 22:35

aren't endorphins LLLOOOOOVE hormones? I guess they make you and baby fall in love with each other - and zonk out. [cheesy hearts emoticons]
