Trapped Wind

My 11 day old little man seems to have horrible trapped wind...he's bringing his knees up to his chest making the most sorrowful cries and it's breaking my heart.

Please bear in mind that i'm v tired and hormonal...so be kind to me, please, cos i'm sitting here crying - pathetically. :(

Oh dear, poor little man. My son has had problems with wind since he's been born up until he was about one year old! I found it so hard to know what to do for him. I think every baby is individual and just keep trying different things to figure out what he responds too. Wind medicine didn't seem to do much for my son but they may work for your baby, have you tried them? Or have you tried to firmly but gently massage his tummy and rotating his legs? That did seem to soothe my son. i'll have think and try and remember what else I did....seems like a distant memory now thankfully (which it will for you too one day so just stick with it). My little man gets this I've been putting him on infacol for night Feds when he is at worse. Look up baby massage and use the belly massage on him might help? A bath is supposed to help them too if not settling. I find changing his position following a rub and usually he can calm down. Followed by an almighty trump!! I hate those cries, sometimes all u can do is hold them and comfort them...and cry with them! Not the most helpful post I'm sure a more experienced mum will come along with more advice but didn't want to read and run.

What makes you so sure it is 'wind'? Babies bring their knees up to their chests when they are in distress/discomfort and it's just the way they cry - not necessarily wind.

What puts it right? More feeding? Cuddling? Just holding him close?

Rotate legs like Kyarrow said. Sit upright on your knee and gently bounce up and down. Over the shoulder and a good walk in the garden ??

My baby girl suffers no end with it - she's 4 months old now but has been a windy wee thing since birth. Some days aren't as bad as others though. I either sit her on my knee and rub her back while gently bouncing my leg or I put some music on, hold her upright against my chest and go for a little bouncy dance around the room. It comes up eventually! Good luck!
