Do you offer water after formula feeds?

I am currently combination feeding, breast and bottle. All the health professionals I have asked say I should not offer my baby boy water. Do you offer water if you are formula feeding?

Thanks!

No, no need to offer water to a breastfed baby - formula fed babies possibly need a little water if it is exceptionally hot weather. Giving them water fills up there stomachs so they don't get enough milk, and too much water can actually be quite dangerous for very young babies (think it messes up the balance of minerals or electrolytes or something!).

I didn't offer my ds any water til he was eating solid food.

No you shouldn't need to, I think ive given my DS (15 weeks) water once when we had a scorching hot day and h'ed had a milk feed but half an hour later he a bit cranky- but it should be the exception rather than the norm.
