4.5 mo refusing to bf

I'm very confused here and hope someone can help. Dd2 is 4.5 mo and mainly bf with one bottle of formula at midday-ish. We've been on holiday the last week so routines have gone haywire, and now she refuses to feed during the day unless she is starving. She does have a couple of big feeds at night though.

If we are away from home in a new or busy place, she is too busy looking around to feed. But even at home, she will fight and scratch me as I try to latch her on. If I can get her latched on, then she will feed happily.

I wondered if she just prefers the formula, but often she doesn't drink much of her bottle either. So I'm mystified.

Has this happened to anyone else? What can I do? I keep finding myself stuck in the car for an hour trying to force a scratchy baby to feed, which is no fun for either of us.

My DD went through a stage of this, the world was far more interesting then feeding! I just let her feed when she was hungry and tried not to worry about it, I think she was finding more of a routine with less feeds but more milk at time.

she may also be teething.

try feed her in a quiet room away from everything to see if it makes a difference. my 2nd was never into feeding and i had to bf her in a dark room.. annoying, she weaned herself off at 10mths and never had a bottle or milk. she is just not into milk. but at 4mths she needs it so I would do what it takes. if you can drop the formula for now until her bf are established again. if she is going through a stage where she is losing interest in feeding then she may start preferring the bottle as it is less work and you do not have to spend time suckling for the let down reflex to release your milk. I am only saying that if you plan to bf longer. you may find its just a phase and she will be back to normal next week, good luck x
