Windy baby - any advice?

My DD2 is four weeks old today and she's having problems with feeding. I switched from BF to FF just over a week ago and she doesn't seem to be enjoying it very much!

She sleeps really well at night - we put her down about 7pm and she wakes at about 11pm and 3am for feeds. These feeds go fine.

During the day, she'll usually takes about 3oz of formula (she's on Aptamil) before coming off the bottle and starting to arch her back and grizzle. When she feeds, she really slurps at the bottle and takes loads of air down. I can even feel the wind in her tummy! She'll then fuss and appear like she wants more milk, but after a couple of gulps she starts spitting it out and wriggling again. She then has a crying jag before eventually falling into a restless nap where only being rocked in her bouncy chair will soothe her.

Has anyone else had this? I feel rotten for her because the poor mite is obviously not happy and I also feel guilty for stopping BFing!

My ds is currently bf (and was 4wks on Sat!) and he is enormously windy. I've been using infacol since Sat which helps with him bringing up the wind but not with the unsettledness but I suspect there may be other issues.

I assume you are ensuring the teat is wholly filled with milk while feeding? You could try other bottles but I'd suggest infacol first as it's a damn sight cheaper than replacing all your bottles!

Is it possible that 3 oz is enough for her at one feed, and that she's a little-and-often feeder??

If bottlefeeding's not working out and you did want to go back to breastfeeding, then it's definitely not too late.

Narmada - I'm still breastfeeding a little, so I'm tempted to reintroduce more BFs. She was still pretty windy with those, but not as bad as with a bottle. Any ideas how I'd go about increasing my supply?

I just came on to ask about wind too! My DS is only 3 weeks old but gets so windy and just will not bring anything up usually, especially after a BF. Then he gripes and whines with wind. We have started using Infacol but it only seems to work if he has a bottle (combination feeding).
It's very frustrating!

If youy want to go back to bf a bit then you need to feed and feed and feed and when you've done that you need to express a lot. You remember vin the beginning to get supply going then it was all about stimulation and skin to skin? It'd be the same now.

If you want to do it it is possible but it will take a little dedication from you. If you need more help, search for any of tiktok's posts on increasing supply. Also look at kellymom for ideas on increasing.
