sterilising bottles

how long can I keep sterilised bottles in the cupboard. I've been using a microwave steamer and then putting them away at room temperature. This is what I was told by midwife but how long can they stay sterilised? Help please, I have a newborn, 11 days old...

I always kept them in the steriliser until using them, as once you open the steriliser they are no longer in a sterile environment.

I've always kept them in a steriliser as well.

I always assembled them as once you open the steriliser they are exposed to the air which means nothing in the steriliser would remain sterile either. I would say they would be ok for up to 24 hours once assembled.
