Query re BF supply and demand

Hi, am BF my 9 week old DS - despite assurances from all in sundry that he's way too big/hungry for me to manage to feed. On Tuesday I was in hospital & missed 3 feeds including the overnight one & was unable to express. Today I am again missing the overnight feed as am in A&E with a relative so again unable to express. I guess am hoping for reassurance that all my hard work to establish a good supply will be wasted. Or how to rectify if have caused probs. Apols if typos btw but doing on phone in hospital corridor!

Should clarify Tuesday I didn't feed for just over twelve hours..

Just feed him as much as possible when you get home, your supply will bounce back. Good excuse to spend the weekend doing nothing but lounging around with the baby!

If you can manage it, a 'babymoon' for a day would help - lounge in bed with lots of skin to skin & unlimited cuddles & bf time.

Agree with everyone else. Do keep fluids up too. Are your boobs not hurting???

peedieworky · 29/07/2011 08:14

Hi - yes had achey boobs on both occasions! Unfortunately babymoon not pos asnow looking after aforementioned relative! Been feeding/expressing at every opportunity as fed-up of people (MIL) informing me there's no way a wee lass like me can feed a big boy like DS...

Hope your relative is ok peedie.

MamaChocoholic · 29/07/2011 08:22

the reply to your mil is that the wee lass that you are managed to grow a big boy like ds, you provided all his food before he was born, so of course you can continue to do so now you're not also having to breathe for him :)

well done for keeping up your confidence, and I hope your relative will be ok.
