Routine for 8m old

How much bf do you give an 8 month old?
My ds is having 3 meals a day and I'm not sure if he's getting enough milk (3 feeds a day)as he is waking 2-3 times a night for big feeds.
What times do you bf?
HV says I should give him more food but he eats til he's full.
Can anyone tell me what kind of routine - ie food, bf, naps their 8 month old is in/was?
Thanks.

Hi Sai. My ds is almost 8mths so I'll tell you what we do, don't know if it will help though..

5-6am - ds wakes, into bed with me for BF & back to sleep
8-8.30am - get up
9am - breakfast
10.30-11am - BF & nap on my knee (max 1hr)
12.30am - lunch
2-2.30pm - BF & nap on my knee (max 1hr)
4-4.30pm - dinner
5-5.30pm - bath
6pm-ish - BF & bed

Then it all goes to pot. He usually wakes within half an hour of me putting him to bed for more BF. Then he could wake another 3 times through the night, and will only be settled by BF. Like you I can't give him any more solids (or milk!) because he eats until he's full, you know at each meal I'm sure he's had enough.. Have to say though, my ds isn't having big feeds overnight, just little ones so I think it's more about him needing it to get back to sleep once he's woken. I don't know what you can do if he seems full after each BF/meal.

Thanks.
Ds normally has his dinner at 6 so I might try giving him some food at 4.
I'll see if that helps.
I can't wait for that night when he sleeps through!
I actually dream about sleep.

Hiya
My DS is 9 mths. At 8 mths he was still fully breastfed and our day was approx
8am BF
10am breakfast
11am BF
1pm lunch
3pm BF
5pm Dinner
Bath
BF & Bed by 6.30pm

How often do you offer BF?

hermykne · 28/11/2005 20:38

sai
my 8mth old day wnet like so
7am breast feed, brekkie shortly after porridge/prunes/pear
11am for lunch - usually a stew or casserole
drink from cup/bottle
nap 12

breastfeed 2pm
snack
water whenever

5pm dinner
bf after *one side)and then the other before bed at 7pm

he probably still got a feed at 10pm or so if he woke but at this stage i quit the night feeds, as i felt quite confident he had ample solids and feeds from me in the day for his age.

continued feeding til 14mths just am and pm then.

i wnet cold turkey on him wakening for night feeds, i must admit, took about a week but since that he is a wonderful sleeper (not being smug just telling the aftermath too)

Hi Blondeinlondon.
bf times are normally 10(ds doesn't want one first thing as he's had so much at night!), 3 and 7.30(bedtime)

Sounds like he is somehow back to front on his bf
I think I read about this in one of the books - might have been the baby whisperer
Will check in the morning if I get time
