Poo question!! for EBF DS

DS, 6 weeks old, was having mustardy grainy poos daily up until about four days ago. We haven't a dirty nappy for the last four days but today he has had two huge dirty nappies, the poo is not grainy more wet and runny it was up to his tummy button! Is this normal or a tummy bug/diarrhoea ??

Breastfed babies often go many days without a poo. I was told it's because the milk is so nourishing there's not much waste to expel. We once went 10 days and the only reason I didn't worry was because my friend's baby had just gone 14!

When it finally happened on day 10, it was an almighty one - vest and babygrow had to be binned and baby had to be put in the bath. I even took pictures as I thouht DH would never believe it otherwise. Then quickly deleted them, obviously!

Don't worry, your DS will find his own rhythm eventually.

Um, I'm not sure. I used to think watery poo was a sign of a little tummy bug but then DS had a three week period of very watery (sometimes green) poos shortly before his first tooth popped out, which I'm told is common.

I wouldn't want to give advice I'm not trained to give but I'd be inclined not to worry. At that stage I did find that my GP was quite happy to chat over the phone about any little problems so maybe you could give them a call for reassurance?

When you say watery, do you mean its stopped being grainy? Both my babies stopped doing grainy and started doing a dark mustard coloured poo which was v fluid. I got told this was normal. Hth

Thank you for reply. Yes no grains, mustard colour but very liquid spread up his tummy. I'm starting to wonder if I noticed consistency because I changed him straight away, before the nappy had time to absorb! He's had another one today no grains!

Lovely! I call those big ones that go up the back and front'Poonamis'
I use reusables and the poos are pretty liquid.
