Blistered nipple

I posted yesterday that my 8 week old baby hadn't been latching on well recently. Today I have what looks like a blister on one nipple - it's a raised, swollen, translucent area across a few of the bumps on one nipple. Does anyone have any advice or experience? At the moment I'm slathering it with Lansinoh.

(I don't think it's a milk blister as the area is translucent; there's no sign of milk there. It reminds me of a friction blister like from illfitting shoes, so I suspect it's related to the poor latch. I just want advice on how to deal with it. I've tried the rugby hold as an alternate position but don't know if the latch was any better, the suck / swallow / breather rhythm is still 90% suck)

I got one when I first started BFing DS and it was excruciating. I got it by letting us both fall asleep while I was laying down feeding him

I changed the hold to 'six o'clock' while the blister healed, let milk dry on my nipple after each feed, slathered it in Lansinoh before/during feeds and alternated paracetamol and ibuprofen (probably not recommended by a physician...)

It healed within a week and I found my nipples just got used to it after a while, I didn't actually change anything.

I hope yours clears up soon orchidee, I feel sorry for you, it really is so painful.

Thinking about it, it's more like six thirty than six o'clock, I held DS vertically instead of horizontally anyway

Thanks Quenelle for the tip about the vertical position, I'll try that. I've managed to feed today without too much pain so it's maybe not as bad as yours was. Still bad enough that I want to sort it out asap though! But it's good to hear that yours healed without any medical help, I did wonder if it'd need to be burst with a needle.
