Difficulty in getting ds to drink anything other than breast milk

DS is 14 months and I would like to start cutting down on breast feeding. I have tried water, formula, juice, whole milk etc... and he just isn't interested - help! (btw - I have tried several bottles/teats and cups)

Forgot to mention that he wakes 2-3 times a night for a feed which is why I originally wanted to start giving him formula before bed. He hasn't been eating much of his solid meals for the past little while. Really want him to eat & drink asI am sure it will helphim sleep better at night. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Formula probably won't help.... my DS is 11 months and wakes up 3 times for a feed and he is fully formula fed. Can't offer any help as I'm wondering about this very subject myself - but rest assured, there's a lot of other sleep deprived mumsnetters out there - made me feel better about it!

Have you tried a dream feed?? Bedtime here is 7:30pm with a big bottle - I sneak in at 10:30 and very quietly give him a dream feed of a few ounces 4 maybe 5 at the most (he usually stays asleep through this now) and he has then been going through til 5-6am when he gets a dummy and goes back to sleep til 7:30am which is wake up time... We follow the baby whisperer routine - some people don't like routine but its worked for us to get him sleeping through as thats been important to me for my sanity I must add though that this works now as he gets all his big feeds in the day - enough calories to last him through the night..

He goes down at around 7:30 then wakes around 11 for a feed. He used to go until 5:30 but recently he is up every 2 hours. I am starting to think my milk production is slowing down and so am desperate for him to drink other milk. It has been my goal for a long time to feed him up in the day but we just aren't having any luck.

hmmm yes thats hunger, if you want to keep bfing then you'll need to keep him on longer for each feed in the day?? your supply will soon increase... if you want to go to bottles you'll need to try various teats - we're using the mam ones but nuk are good too - he hated avent ones - they looked nothing like my nipple either....
