unhelpful information on breastfeeding on mums.net

verastones · 15/11/2005 01:31

website displaying negative experience of breastfeeding www.mums.net

Really poor article on 3 quite negative breastfeeding experiences, personally I think it would frighten anyone from having a baby never mind breastfeeding

If you agree with me that it not a balanced article and does not reflect most peoples experience of breastfeeding, please complain to them

I have emailed to complain

www.mums.net/index.php?document=20&article=6

please note it is mums.net not mumsnet

LOL Compo - don't worry, have made similar "bugger off and have a chat elsewhere, I want to row re this" posts myself I'm not as polite as you though

verastones · 15/11/2005 22:05

agree

you don't fancy a cracker then Compo???
I'll get me coat....
Sorry.

Serah · 15/11/2005 22:23

Actually, something has been overlooked here.... Don't feel upset for starting this thread Verastones. It has been a good debate, but got a little heated - breast and bottle feeding threads always do. I have launched myself at a couple of them as it is an emotive subject (there's been a recent thread going by this very title too!)

Don't worry - and stay around. Sounds like you need some support with going back to work and everything. You'll get it in the bucketload here

pookey · 15/11/2005 22:29

ooops very confused I thought I was posting on a thread where a woman said she was having problems feeding her 8 week old . don't know how that happened . Oh well i got lots of good advice which has made me stop and think so thanks and sorry to interupt ....

verastones · 15/11/2005 22:31

thanks, I feel like i have committed some internet faux pas (whatever that means)

i hate my job and wish i didnt have to go back

Serah · 15/11/2005 22:44

Can I just make a small suggestion? Don't start a thread on weaning for a bit

verastones · 15/11/2005 22:47

wasnt going to

do you mean because i have offended people ?

OP posts:
Serah · 15/11/2005 22:51

No Verastones... its another subject likely to get peoples heckles up is all

Don't worry!

verastones · 15/11/2005 22:55

cool thanks

OP posts:
hunkermunker · 15/11/2005 22:56

Even the very mention of the very spoons you may (or may not ) use to do the very weaning, Vera

QueenVictoria · 15/11/2005 22:59

Dont worry verastones. There are sensitive subjects on here and things can get heated but everyone has forgotten it the next day even if it does.

Dont worry about treading on peoples toes! We're all grown ups here!

verastones · 15/11/2005 23:10

thanks

am really loving breastfeeding and dont want to stop or cut down

any advice on returning to a nightmare job and being separated from the most wonderful baby girl and teenage son

or should i start new thread for that?

OP posts:
verastones · 15/11/2005 23:11

p.s i use normal tea spoons because have been saving every penny to be off work as long as possible

OP posts:
Serah · 15/11/2005 23:24

so long as your teaspoons don't say anything about suitable from 3 months you'll be fine VS

Start a new thread

Serah · 15/11/2005 23:25

ooh, oooh, not on weaning with teaspoons from 3 months though.... pleeease! I couldn't take it!!!

verastones · 15/11/2005 23:32

wouldnt dare! plus dont have any strong feeling about weaning

will start new thread on work

would like to help but didnt go back to mine because my boss was an *rse.

tiktok · 15/11/2005 23:52

QV - about meds: it's not that meds do not get into the milk (though many don't), it's not even that they don't have an effect (though many don't)...it's that it is hardly ever worth suspending or stopping breastfeeding because of it.

(yes, thrush does seem to be able to pass back and forth between mother and baby, BTW)

QueenVictoria · 15/11/2005 23:59

I dont think it was me that asked that! (pretty sure i didnt anyway???? ive had VERY little sleep the last 48 hours). Thought i just suspected thrush and mentioned how i got mine???

tiktok · 16/11/2005 00:02

Sorry, QV, I sort of made a leap.....a/biotics in mum (who is bf) can make thrush more likely = passes thrush to baby b/cause she is bf = take care when having a/biotics as baby might get thrush...but it was a leap too far

QueenVictoria · 16/11/2005 00:06

Phew - im tired but i didnt think i was THAT bad
