Comfort bottle feeding

Pls help! Have 5 week old who is bottle fed, started off great, feeding every 3-4 hrs, now gradually feeding every 1 and half to 2 hrs. Can't understand why, is this comfort feeding? Surely as baby gets older milk intake increases and so does intervals. Terribly confused (and exhausted) pls help :-(

Has the amount s/he is taking increased? Could it be the six week growth spurt (early)?

The only thing I can think of is silent reflux, does LO have any other signs of this?

You could try a dummy, lots of babies don't take to them at first but if you persevere it could work. If s/he is feeding himself to sleep, it could be waking with wind and might need extra winding.

As for going longer between feeds, it depends on your baby. One of mine went four hourly, the other three hourly as that was what suited them.

Let us know some more details and what you have tried.

is your lo falling asleep while feeding? Have you tried a faster teat? Maybe your lo cries due to tiredness sometimes rather than hunger and needs a sleep rather than a feed.
