have had fabulously non hurty nips for almost 2 months of BFing. Used the TT manual pump and now they are sore - this happened to anyone else? Should I persist.

It takes a little while to get the knack with the hand pump.

Don't squeeze too hard when pumping. You don't need to fully depress the handle each time, if it's hurting try only 'half' squeezing, if still hurts squeeze a little less, if it doesn't pull the nipple squeeze a little more.

You'll be able to see the milk coming from the nipple if you look in the little window type bit where the nipple is pulled into. If you watch you should be able to spot the spurts and release the pump handle when the each spurt finishes, you'll prob find that you get a rhythm going after initial let down.

Also make sure your nipple is centered in the funnel bit to stop it getting squished.

HTH!

Never got on with a pump - have you tried hand expressing?

I don?t know about the TT ones, but I know medela do different sized bits for the pump, as obviously everyones boobs / nipples etc are different sizes. Might be worth looking in
