conceiving DC2 while BFing...

DS is nearly 8m and I know its soon, but I was really hoping to be pregnant with DC2 by now :(
My period returned 6 weeks postpartum and has been regular as clockwork since (apart from this month when I honestly thought I might be pregnant), me and DH are having plenty of sex, but its just not happening!!

My mum, and even my nan, both conceived within 3m of DC1 being born when they were both EBF and I feel a bit useless that it hasnt happened yet... DS was conceived nearly immediately when we started trying.

I dont want to stop BFing, I'm hoping to do it for a while, but I want DC2 :(

Is anyone in the same boat? Or has any advice?

Are you ovulating as well as having periods? When (if) you ovulate how many days elapse before your period starts?

FWIW I have got pg whilst bfing and pg whilst tandem bfing so it's definately possible although mine were concieved at 11.5m post partum and 13.5m post partum not at 3m!

not really an expert on the signs of ovulation as it happened so easily first time. i think so, as my mucus is changing, but i think i will buy some poas tests to check... :)

I was demand feeding my daughter and my period didn't come back until 2 years! I had to cut back on the demand feeding to get a period.

I got pregnant on the second cycle after getting a period. Must've been about 26 months?

I am still breastfeeding while pregnant and while I got pregnant, just not feeding on demand (even at 20 months it was frequent)

I didn't want a very, very close gap, and in fact I think 3 years is still a close gap really but at my age (39) I didn't want to leave it any longer.

Good luck.

DS has moved into his cot for most of the night now (was cosleeping), hes still feeding at night but not ALL night, so I'm hoping that might help. Apart from that, he eats really well so I dont think hes gonna BF any less for a while. He is fed on demand, but its generally 3-4 hours between feeds (he will sometimes go longer if I'm not there). Apart from no longer cosleeping, I should be going back to work in August, which would then elongate the gaps between his feeds. So hopefully it wont be long, I'm just disappointed that it hasnt happened yet...

Even if you weren't feeding, not yet being pregnant wouldn't be a sign of anything wrong. I think you need to be more realistic about it tbh.
