Breastfeeding 9mo on demand, i feel so drained

I don't know if it is linked.

DS is 9mo, still bfing pretty much on demand (about 6-7times a day) only one 'night' feed (around 4/5am)

My periods returned at 6/7m and have been quite heavy. I have lost very nearly 3st since DS was born, all from running around after 2dc and the bfing, no dieting.

I have started back on the spatone, but i feel so drained, i am so tired and feel almost tearful with it and a bit shaky.

I think i am going to see the Dr (sensible), but was unsure if the bfing was contributing to how i feel and if the Dr may suggest i stop. I am aiming to cut down the feeds a little anyway (ds is starting to help himself Grin)

Any advice wouuld be very welcome Smile

I'm still bfing on demand as much as you and I feel tired but not drained. I don't have periods, thankfully or I probably would be drained.

Not sure what spatone is?

I would suggest cutting back on day feeds and introducing cup feeds of water or ebm. Try not to stop completely unless you want to

Thank you Smile

Spatone is a natural iron supplement.

I have got an appointment for a bloodtest, just to make sure everything is fine.

I don't want to just stop feeding, but i do want to cut down a bit, to no more than 4 feeds in 24hrs really.

With you loosing 3 stone has that put you well below your normal? If so I would increase the calories (healthly mainly!) that you have each day. Make sure you are drinking plenty. Hope blood test goes well.

Good idea to test your iron levels. I was knackered at this stage too and that's when I lost tons of weight- DS was very slow on the uptake of solids and he really only started eating properly at 10-11m. Maybe your DS will cut down a bit as his food intake increases (or changes)

The weightloss has really only been pregnancy weight going, but considering 3 days after having DS i was only 7lbs lighter than i was at 9m pg and he was 9lb2oz, i don't feel it was all to do with having him iyswim?

I think i have got into the habit of eating a bit crappy, i don't stay sat down while everyone else is eating, i am usually trying to do a million things at once. I probably need to be a bit more sensible.

If iron comes back fine then i may look into some extra vitamins especially while i'm still feeding.
