dt2 used to feed every 2.5 hours (day) or 3-4 hours (night) and all was well. then it went to two hourly and the last few days he's down to every hour to hour and a half, day and night. these are proper feeds, not just a couple of comfort sucks and back to sleep. sometimes I can rock him back to sleep, but he wakes again 5 minutes later and will only go soundly back to sleep with a feed. because it mirrors the daytime pattern, I'm guessing it is real hunger. he's eating a little solids, not as much as dt1, but surely that shouldn't be making him want more milk than before? it really does feel like he's drinking more btw, because I've had "the hunger" this last week which I haven't had for months.

why does he need feeding so often these days? with dt1 to fit in too it feels like I'm feeding all the time again, and am struggling badly without even 2 hours sleep at a time (yes, we cosleep)

Oooo, I feel your pain!!

I had this when my DS was a similar age. When I actually had enough energy to work it out, it corresponded with a growth spurt (he was 6 weeks early so it came a bit late compared to the dates in The Wonder Weeks). It nearly killed me as DH was working abroad for a month. I'm afraid it went on for 3 weeks, but it DID pass...

I know people complain bitterly about the 4 month growth spurt. For me, this was FAAAAAAAR worse!

I'm sorry if I sound like the voice of doom and gloom, but honestly, it does sound like exactly what I went through at a similar time.

thanks balletmoo. my babies were 38w, so not particularly prem, but at least if it's that, it will only be another couple of weeks, right? I can do that :steels herself and hoards chocolate:

The biggest problem I found, once we were over it, was stressing about the fact that he was suddenly eating so little in comparaison. I mean, at the time, he ad a ferocious appetite - he'd eat a whole avocado in one sitting... and that was just for starters!! Now, it's all I can do to get a tiny piece of pear into him!

Let us know how it goes!
