swimming and breastfeeding?

hiya, just a random question. am breastfeeding 7 week old dd and so far its going really well. tiring obviously but hopefully with time the feeds will become more regular.

anyway am thinking about starting up some gentle exercise and want to do swimming. now my normal swimsuits are a bit tight and the maternity one is just about ok if a bit baggy. the only thing is am worried about leaking when swimming and also that have constantly been in a bra all this time and will feel a bit sore to just have swimsuit on sore nipples!

has anyone been swimming at this stage and was any of this a problem?
would be great to know, thanks!

I didn't find it a problem, even if you do leak a bit it isn't really a problem compared to what else ends up in pools! If you are worried though then perhaps get yourself some lily padz which stick to your breast and prevent leaking. Also good for avoiding massive nipple showing under costume Grin.

But don't jump in with the normal breast pads still in your swimming costume like I did. Wow, those lansinoh pads can really hold a lot of liquid!
