Mastitis ? Have i got it ?

I resently stopped breastfeeding my 4 month old because she went on a nursng strike and wouldnt take to me anymore. I knew my breasts would back up with milk and be tender for a while. The pain started to ease yeturday but when i woke up with morning i noticed redness on one side and that it had become even harder and started to hurt again.
I have no flu like symptoms though ?
Im not sure what to do about it, i told my health visitor i had stopped a few days ago before it started and she suggested a well supported bra. Ive done this but it doesnt appear to be getting better on one side Confused ?
Any advice welcome

Possibly you have a blocked duct at the moment, but if that is the case, you need to be careful as it can become mastitus. Some information here from Kellymom

Yes I agree with RufflesK, drink lots of water, make sure you have properly fitting bras, have a hot bath or shower and massage your boob. If you can express then even better.
I've had mastitis lots of times - wouldn't wish it on anyone. Good luck

It could be mastitis - I had this for about 2 days. Red sore boobs, very tender than the flu symptoms hit.

I can really recommend phytolacca - a homopathic remedy which I was recommended and it made a big difference. I got mastitis twice - the first time I had antibiotics and the second I took phytolacca at the first signs (like you are describing) and I knocked it on the head.

Worth getting some in. Health food shops stock it. Hope it isn't though - not very pleasant whatever it is.
