I read on the BF study thread that you had been away as there was a fairly nasty thread.

Just wanted to say that in the early days (we're now at 6mo BF woo hoo :o) I found your posts so very useful. You always seemed like a sympathetic and non-judgmental poster with sensible, level-headed advice and it made a big difference to me.

Thank you

Aw, that's nice, thank you :)

(I have other things at the moment in my life that are taking up time so I might have another break soon)

BellaBearisWideAwake · 10/05/2011 18:25

Agree. Plus I'm reading the MN guide to babies and tiktok is all over it!

Whyriskit · 10/05/2011 18:26

I'd like to second this, tiktok. I was very close to giving up, but you gave me some great advice as well as being non-judgemental and now we're nearly at 9 months, so thank you!

MoonFaceMamaaaaargh · 10/05/2011 19:42

yes i was sad to see you had had a bad experience tiktok. I have learn't loads from you...about bf, science and how to remain rational in the face of an emotional tsunami. I still have some way to go but thank you. Smile

TittyBojangles · 10/05/2011 20:10

Can I fourth this? Your knowledge and experience has been invaluable to soooo many bf ladies I know. You are fab :)

fartingfran · 10/05/2011 20:14

Me too. Wise words, always delivered with diplomacy and consideration. :)

nethunsreject · 10/05/2011 20:16

Me too.

An excellent bfing resource! Grin

domesticslattern · 10/05/2011 20:19

Tiktok, it is down to you that my dd was bf to 13 months.
Your words on a screen have incredible reach.
Welcome back!

ilovemydogandMrObama · 10/05/2011 20:20

tik could you please at least stay for the next week? Am having number 3 tomorrow and just know I'm gonna need a cyber hand hold Smile.

Oh, and get this, At the hospital, one has to opt out of getting b/fing support. There;s a form and they give the contact details of your nearest support group, NCT numbers, but if you don't want the support, have to sign something saying you don't want it. Interesting.

TurtlesAreRetroRight · 10/05/2011 20:20

Oh I'm glad you're back tiktok. You and many others do brilliant work on the bf threads. In fact I owe you, mars and hunker part of my soul.

hormonesnomore · 10/05/2011 20:31

Tiktok, I'd just like to say I wish you'd been around to offer advice when I was struggling & muddling through bf-ing my babies.

Your support is priceless and you give it so generously and without judgement.

Even all these years later, I have learned so much from your posts on here.

Hopefully · 10/05/2011 20:41

Hear hear.

Advice from Tiktok meant I kept BFing DS1 to 10 months, and made me about a thousand percent more relaxed when DS2 arrived. BF is fab this time, largely thanks to her v sensible, accurate advice.

ziptoes · 10/05/2011 21:04

Just read tiktok's post on the breastfeeding makes better behaved babies thread (posted at 08:46:10). Can I just add that in addition to her fabulous bf advice, she has a wise and sensible scientific mind. Her reply to today's bonkers breastfeeding media hooha de jour is well reasoned, well informed and well written.

Is there some kind of prize we can put her up for?

AngelDog · 10/05/2011 23:14

I agree with ziptoes.

You need to make sure you do what's best for your family rather than best for MN, tiktok, but I hope they're nice things taking up your time. :)

tiktok · 10/05/2011 23:51

Blush such nice comments and it's nice to know people have felt supported, thank you!

WinkyWinkola · 11/05/2011 00:07

Balanced, supportive, intelligent, calm.

Wish you could be cloned in rl and sent out to help new mums.

Albrecht · 11/05/2011 10:03

Oh me as well. Not only saved my breastfeeding but I have learnt so much from your posts.

Although having said that, don't feel you have to be on call to us 24/7, there is always the archive!

tiktok · 11/05/2011 12:56

Nice things again :)

I was offered a mystery Santa gift at Xmas from mumsnet - someone kind had suggested me! I declined. I honestly, honestly do not want anything and I prefer not to be outed in any way (though MN Towers know very well who I am, and that doesn't mean I am a celeb or anything, it's just we have had some off-mumsnet dealings).

RJandA · 11/05/2011 15:20

Tiktok, if I'm honest then I'd always assumed you were some kind of mumsnet undercover moderator/bfing counsellor who was paid to keep an eye on the feeding forum and pick up any ridiculous posts.... you actually do all this out of the goodness of your heart? Wow!

14 months and still going by the way... thank you tiktok.

Blatherskite · 11/05/2011 15:35

Mumsnet is a better place for having tiktok around. She should be a "mumsnet undercover moderator/bfing counsellor who is paid to keep an eye on the feeding forum and pick up any ridiculous posts"

aquavit · 11/05/2011 15:41

sorry to hear you had a bad time on a thread tiktok, and like AngelDog I hope that RL distractions are happy ones. You helped me enormously too - thank you

aquavit · 11/05/2011 15:43

oh should have added: that help was largely from archived posts, so you will still be a brilliant presence here whether or not you are actively posting

AngryGnome · 11/05/2011 17:05

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience on a thread. I've gained so much reassurance and info from your posts. After a horribly rocky start, still bf'ing at 6 months!

You have helped so many mums and babies - thanks tiktok

Chocchip88 · 11/05/2011 20:32

Absolutely the reason I am still bf at 7 months, again from archived posts. Please know you are very very much appreciated. Your calm and non judgemental manner inspire me to be a fairer person.

tiktok · 11/05/2011 21:15

Wow.....:) I don't recognise myself!

Never thought about the archived posts - glad they're useful!
