Yellow breastmilk? 13w/o had some serious tummy distress after two feeds today.

Today my 13wo got terrible tummy distress after her 2:30 and 4:30 feeds. It was so bad (screaming and the only comfort was tossed over our shoulders) that I went out and bought gripe water which seemed to do the trick. Then tonight, I went to pump since I missed a feed (did the 6:30 feed with breastmilk from previous days) and it looked very yellow...like butter. Seems odd? Has this happened to anyone? I'm scared for the morning feed...

I did have two caffe latte's today which is one more than I usually do. Am going to leave out dairy for the next few days and see what happens.

Just sounds like it's quite hindmilky - foremilk's more bluey/white IME.

Don't fret about dairy - is more dodgy to start mucking about with cutting things out of your diet.

Sometimes babies are unsettled. If it occurs in conjunction with something else that seems unusual, it's very easy to blame that. But sometimes it's just because babies are tricksy little blighters.

Just feed her when she wants it and she'll be OK, I'm sure.

Yellow milk is just nice and creamy. Nothing wrong with it at all.

ok, thanks, I feel slightly better. I pumped and dumped (so painful to see it go down the drain!) just in case. Usually my milk seems more blue-ish but honestly, when I usually pump it's either after a feed or later in the evening so maybe that's the difference. This tummy distress just came out of nowhere today! She had a delightful morning. Sort of scary. New mom here...thanks again.

Don't throw it away again - honestly, really no need to worry.
