FF out and about

How do you safely prepare ff for outings?

It needs to be prepared with hothothot water to kill any bacteria in the powder, right? But then you can't have it hanging around warm for hours? So I guess you could chill it and put it in a cool bag for a couple of hours, but how do you warm it up again for the feed?

Suppose the crux of it is that Ds will only drink it warm. Do I just need to train him to be less fussy, and use ready-made cartons?

What do other people do?? Thanks!

(I mean, hiking kind of outings with no nice cafe to warm the bottle. Aargh, bfing was so much easier. In some ways.)

hi, i used to make up bottles of freshly boiled water and pack a seperate formula dispenser (available from mothercare, etc) and when dd's were due a feed mix the 2 together and hey presto! you get quite expert after a while at measuring the temperature of the water before you go out! also, a thermos flask of boiling water in case you need to heat a bottle of water up a bit - always easier than cooling it down in a hurry! The formula dispensers are brilliant and from memory take 3 or 4 feeds worth of formula. i was told that once the bottle was made up (with hot water) and sealed it was sterile and my dd's were never ill so we certainly didnt have any problems with it - just lots of lovely days out. flask of hot water, bottle of cold. Pour half the hot into your bottle, add powder, top up with the cold? that's the safest way I can figure out. ( every day I thank god that my kids will take any milk any way it comes)

Thank you!! That'd work nicely. Thermos ordered.

Have just been to see a friend who uses this:

www.amazon.co.uk/Fisher-Price-Bottle-Warming-Vacuum-Flask/dp/B000H5V52U/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1304361135&sr=8-2

(if link doesn't work, just google 'fisher price flask bottle warmer') and she swears by it!
