15 wo suddenly rejecting bottle... ??

Just wondered if anyone had had any similar experience: my DD has suddenly started rejecting the bottle after weeks of having no problems.

She's EBF, but for the odd bottle of formula here and there and we started her on the bottle at 4 weeks. She had absolutely no problem with it and hardly even noticed the difference! Since then we'd been giving a bottle a day for the last feed of the night - sometimes formula and sometimes expressed milk - and she took it without any fuss.

Now in the last week or so she suddenly hates the bottle! We've tried different flow speeds of teat, heating the milk, leaving it cool, feeding her when she's hungry, trying it when she's not so ravenous, and I can't work out why the sudden dislike.

It's not too bad at the moment as I can feed her from the breast but I'm worried about the day I need to leave her with someone else to be fed - and what about when we start weaning, which is only a couple of months away? Will I be breast feeding her forever!??

Has anyone else had this happen? Is it just a phase? Is it a case of perseverance? Is there anything I can do to try and reintroduce it to her?

In addition, we've been using Medela bottles and she takes a dummy no problem. My next step is to try Tommee Tippee bottles as the breast shape might make a diff?
Help! x

Hi I think this is really common, my d.d happily bf and took occasional bottle and then suddenly at 2 months refused the bottle, no warning, just like that. I kept offering it to her and then suddenly at 6 months she started taking it again. This coincided with her taking solids. I put bottle on the table and she picked it up and with a bit of help drank from it, i think as she was trying solids, finger foods etc it was just another thing for her to try, now she is happy with both bottle and boobs. I think perseverance is the key. My d.s stopped the bottle over night at 11 months and he was never b.f. They are little tinkers aren't they?

Often the developmental leap at around 19 weeks messes with eating, sleeping and behaviour. No advice, but it sometimes helps to know it's normal.

Thanks all this is really helpful. I actually tried her with the Tommee Tippees yesterday and she took it with no hesitation so maybe she just got sick of the other bottles!
