34 weeks pregnant with my third baby,,,,,, its been 5 years since had a baby in the house, so has been a while!!
Wanting to breast feed but, have expresser and bottles etc,,,, have heard and read hot setting on dishwasher is as good as a steriliser, what do people think to this??
If its true and ok, I am gonna bypass getting a steriliser as i dont see the point??

well they don't sell sterilisers in the usa as everyone uses the dishwasher

Wow really??! Do you put the bottles in on their own or with all your other stuff?

I had my 1st DD in USA and can confirm they use the dishwasher. You can also use a pot of boiling water but I think this starts to degrade the teats over time. Now 20 wks prgnt with 3rd and strting to try to remember what I need as it has been 9 yrs! Also intend to bfeed as did with other 2 but getting an expressing kit in case I have too much milk again.

It depends on how hot your dishwasher goes. US ones tend to have hotter cycles than ours.

My dishwasher goes up to 65 degrees and thats the wash we use everyday? i bottle fed my other two, well fed my second for five stays but struggled and didnt ask for help stupidly so ended up bottle feeding her...... but now older and wiser am determined to breastfeed x

I wasn't sure about the dishwasher either so sterilised for the first few months and then just stuck them in the dishwasher with everything else!

you have to watch what you put in with them too as the bottles/teats can end up turning orange if anything tomato based is on plates/pots, etc. I never used the dishwasher as it was quicker to wash and sterilise than to wait on a dishwasher cycle
