I'm a first time mum and I stupidly threw away the sterilising instructions, want to express my breast milk and have no idea what to do! Ahhhhhh!

Does anyone have a Tommee Tippee microwave steriliser and able to tell me how to use it? Got a hungry 3week old baby here so any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Y don't need to sterilise anything with breast milk

Hot soapy water and air drying will be fine

I beg to differ if you are expressing in to a bottle and feeding from the bottle then you do need to sterilise.
I have the same steriliser, 200ml water in the bottom, pop the lid on and microwave for 6 minutes. It'll stay sterilised for 24 hours.

It's not clear whether sterilising is needed with fresh ebm as it's antimicrobial. It loses some of that when freezing though.

Well if you have the steriliser, for the sake of 6 mins I personally would sterilise, I always did when I expressed. (I also sterilised the breast pump, incidentally if you are using the small box that came with the Tommee Tippee pump, then it's 100ml, 4 minutes, with the little steam hole open).

That's just my opinion by the way, I'm sure many other Mums will disagree with sterilising and others like me will sterlise everything!

thank you so much guacamole! :)
