Help....
First time mum, 2week old baby boy
exclusive bf so far so good... But last 48 hrs have been awful & I'm nit coping & feel like I'm not doing enough for him :-(
he is currently constantly feeding then throwing up then feeding with a rare micro nap usually on me or in buggy
he seems so sad and uncomfy I've tried different winding styles to see if that helps but it doesn't seen to
it means he's gone from 3 hrs night sleep plus day naps to just micro naps or buggy naps only in day and 2 hrs at night
I'm now only getting 2 hrs sleep and with constant feeding niples getting sore
I've looked at colic on nhs website & don't think is that
anyone any ideas what I'm doing wrong
I'm physically wrecked
hv said to try to dedicate first 6 wks to feeding but that was before all this
I don't think I can manage another 4 nights let alone weeks like this
any suggestions??
Thanks

Have you eaten anything different or unusual that may have been having an effect on him?

He may have reflux. My sister's baby had this and had to be given medicine before a feed to help him keep it down. Go and see your doctor about it. iirc that started after a couple of weeks too.

2 week's is a typical growth spurt, all they want to do is feed feed and feed some more. This is ordering in your supply and should setal down in a day or two.

He's a tinny baby still and all they want to do is be close to you. I'd trying getting him to sleep in a sling during the day and cosleeping at night if possible. It'll only be for these first few week's untill things setal down.

Reflux is a possiblity as it can start around this age, but they can also overfeed it overtired. But reflux babies offten strugle to sleep so it's hard to tell. Does he trow up hole feeds that would completly soak a muslin square or is it just small amounts?

Congratulations and well done on your lovely new baby.

Thanks all for your help
he just 'posset' sicks ( is that even the right word??!) rather than Muslim covering jobs tho he has been sick in his sleep a couple of times which have been more
I think the cosleeping could work better I tried after 5am feed lying down and he seemed more rested
I'm looking into reflux as I can't give him gripe water till 4 wks apparently

today's task - figure out how to use the sling I hot from nearly new
sale...

'posset' sick is quit normal in a lot of babies and unless he's screaming lying down or failling to gain weight then it's unlikly to be reflux.

Something to do with the valve in the top of the stomach not being mature in new babies, so little bits can still come out after a feed.

Yes try with the sling. Youtube is good if you can't figure it out in sleep deprived muddle.

I don't think you are doing anything wrong, some of them just find the world a bit of a shock. If 6 wks feels like too far just tell yourself you will do the next feed ( and then the next). That is what I did and ds still going well at 9 months!

Also are you going to bf support group? - search for your local ones here
