cluster feeding and spitting up

Hi.

My small 6 week old (now 6lbs 13oz) generally has a period of cluster feeding every day, though not always in the evening. She feeds on and off for a good few hours most days at some point. She also tends to spit up (quite) a bit after each feed - so my question is can she really be hungry/have room for any more if she's spitting up? Or is she just after comfort (which is of course fine :) ).

I have heard that when going through a growth spurt (6weeks is teh classic time), babies can feed then posset then feed more, which gets your supply up. Don't know how true this is though. It may be worth burping your DD BEFORE she feeds, in case there is a bubble of air getting trapped and making her sick.
