I have a 11 week old ds with colic, this seems to be getting better we can settle him easier, however, he has started screaming, as soon as he wakes, literally as soon as his eyes open he starts screaming
Spoke to gp yesterday who said that combined with the colic it could be a sign of an allergy so has given us a prescription for pregestemil. I'm a little scared of assaulting the poor mites digestive system with too much so am looking for opinions/experience, has anyone else had to use pregestimil and if so what did you think?

Not sure what pregestemil is - is it a formula?

stdorothymantooth · 15/04/2011 09:27

Hi ritamorgan, pregestimil is a dairy free hypo allergenic formula.

I don't know about that formula in particular, but does your baby have any other allergy symptoms? Does he react immediately to his milk?

He will have a full feed and be winded ok but then he will start screaming at the end of the feed x

I think it's worth trying the hydrolysed formula - it could be milk protein allergy, especially if he's also vomiting/ has diarrhea or a skin rash. I wouldn't worry about assaulting his system, because if he is allergic to cow's milk, then normal formula will be doing him no favours at all - in babies with cow's milk issues, normal formula can actually make the digestive tract bleed Shock.

Thank you Narmada he does vomit quite a lot. Just off to get his prescription.
