Colic and Yakult?

Has anyone heard of Yakult being a good way to ease colic? I came across it online and just wanted to find out whether anyone had tried it with success, and how much should be used. We have tried everything else!

Thanks.

To give to a baby?

How old?

I was advised to do this (seriously colicky baby) by midwives and HV with DS1. We believed them and it made absolutely bugger all difference to DS - he suffered with colic till 12 weeks and had huge gut/constipation problems till he was at least 10 months. Even weeks and months after we stopped any formula/yakult/gripe water/infacol he was genuinely constipated (I have never ever met another EBF baby that was producing actual constipated poos), and had suppositories to relieve it more than once.

With hindsight I am reasonably furious that we were recommended this as I wonder whether we upset DS's tummy even more by introducing such a non-age-appropriate substance in his system. I consider it incredibly lucky that despite this DS now has no gut problems whatsoever, and I will feel guilty forever if he ends up with IBS or something from stupid bad advice from HCPs.
