Weaning a 2 and a half year old?

Hi Folks,
Any tips for weaning a two and half year old DS? He is my second boy and for various reasons he can't seem to kick the habit. I was hoping he would self wean ( ha ha ha ha) but he likes to feed when I get home from work, before bed and then first thing in the morning before breakfast.
I would like him to stop, but rather not go cold turkey so endure the screaming and him feeling sad. Fat chance probably but I figured it was worth asking just in case.
Thanks!

You can wean him without too much screaming by helping him to realise that he no longer needs to BF.
I weaned my two DCs a little younger, but I think the same principle would work.
I used distraction and alternatives.
When you come home from work, offer him a snack with a cuddle on your knee. That way he gets both the nutrition and the closeness with mummy.
Before bed and before breakfast offer him a drink of milk from a cup, which he will also drink on your knee.
He will soon learn that he doesn't need to BF in order to get the close mummy time and the nutrition/drink that he wants.

Good luck!
