How often does ten month old babies breastfeed?

Just that really. I know there must be a wide variety of answers but am curious. DD is ten months old and still seem to breastfeed much more frequently than her 2 brothers before her. She drinks before solid food, after solid food and her snacks are still breastfeeds. It's all about to change as I'm going back to work on Monday Sad but am curious nonetheless.

Mine is on 3 bf a day (after breakfast, after lunch and before bed) and has one cup of formula a day. As the one and only tin of formula we have has just been finished, the formula feed will be replaced by cow's milk from now on and then I'll gradually increase these and reduce the bf over the next few weeks ready for when I go back to work.

When mine was 10mo she had one after every nap in the day (so 2), one before bed, and one when she got up in the morning. She dropped the ones after the naps shortly after that, at maybe 11mo.

Thinking back, I'm pretty sure DS was on about 3 during the day and 1-2 during the night. So, one when he woke up, one at nap time, one at bedtime, one or two at night (eg 12am and 4am). He then went down to just bedtime, one during night and one in the morning, then just bedtime and night, then just night, then none (at 15 months). It was very gradual, but would fit in with working too. Some of my NCT friends babies had more at that age (ie snacking a lot as you describe), some less (ie just at bedtime and in morning). HTH :)

DD is on two a day. One when she wakes up and one when she goes to bed.

Iirc about 10 times at least

Mine liked to snack

I was lucky I didn't have to go back to work so early. Hope it works out for you all

I've been back at work for 5 months. Dd2 is approaching 11 months. She feeds 3 times on work days and more if I'm around.

DS is 10m and just started nursery. He has 2 BF a day (morning and night) and - in theory - 2 cups of milk (formula or cows milk). He's never taken a bottle despite repeated attempts with EBF etc.

EldonAve · 09/04/2011 07:38

3-4 times a day here, but if I'm not around it's just twice and one bottle

I'm sure if I offered he would feed more

Trillian42 · 09/04/2011 11:01

DD is on 8 full feeds! But she's still taking virtually no solids :(

Thanks all for replying. Is good to know I'm not alone. Fingers crossed it's not too traumatic going back to work.

2 bf's, one before bed and one on wake up. And 2 bottles, sometimes 3. One in the middle of the night and 1-2 mid morning/afternoon.

Im on 4 -5a day. 1 first thing, 1 mid morn, 1 just before or after lunch sometimes, 1 mid afternoon and 1 at bed. They arent all full feeds though now. He doesn't take a lot of water so i worry about him getting enough fluids. i want to cut out one so i have some time to work but i don't really want to give him formula or cows milk (i have an intolerance and so eat sheeps and soy). So can i just give him sheep yog and cheese as dairy? (he already has a bit of sheep yog at breakfast)
