Is there a breastfeeding while pregnant thread already?

MummyBerryJuice · 05/04/2011 15:08

If not would anyone like to join me?

Experienced and first time feeding while pregnant mums welcome. I'm almost 11 weeks with DC2 and am still feeding DS (15 months). We are currently working at night weaning him (although he is incredibly persistent) and he still feeds 3/4/5 time per day, although he is starting to eat more solids.

I don't know anyone in RL who has fed whilst pregnant or tandemed and it would be great to be able to share frustrations etc with others.

So please come and join me, or point me in the direction of the right thread

deserved. Damn phone.

MummyBerryJuice · 18/05/2011 14:13

Smile ah, thanks Blush. It's a little embarrassing really, being so emotional this morning. I'm such a wimp too. Make my mind up to do something and then a few hours later decide it will be too difficult and bin the plans.

It might be that we are just experiencing a setback due to teething (and a possible cold, DS and I have been sneezing a lot today) so might just have to wait and see for a bit.

I think that if he is still healthy tomorrow, I might be tempted to give it a go, but will discuss in more depth with DH this evening, he usually reminds me of why we have decided to parent the way we do.

The baby is SOOO active, jumping around everywhere, which is quite cool, although DS was extremely active in utero too, and has ended up being a non-sleeper, so I hope that they aren't linked.

Best laid plans of mice and mums... Smile

20wk scan tomorrow...nervous and excited!

MummyBerryJuice · 18/05/2011 14:46

How exciting! Good luck, come and tell us all about it afterwards.

MBJ I think you'll do it only if you feel it has to be, so therefore try not to feel guilty. Even if the work comes undone on holiday at least you would have found out if it can work.

Two more nights of no feeds for DD. Although last night she managed to wake up 12 times in 8 hours [tired], at least a shortened work day today. thankfully we've not had a bad night before any of my 13 hours days and I (hopefully) only have one left

bump is moving around lots and have a scan tomorrow also (will just be short of 19 weeks)

MummyBerryJuice · 19/05/2011 06:12

Good luck to you both for your scans today.

We are definitely going to try CC from tonight. In desparation this morning I got up at 5am, took DS (only half awake but SCREAMING) downstairs gave him some cow's milk in a beaker (which he at first refused) and put Peppa on.

DHhas taken him now so I can get a little rest.

I found myself really resenting him in the early hours and I think it he's if we just stop it. His nose is streaming though but if he remains well otherwise we will give it a go

OP posts:
MoonFaceMamaaaaargh · 19/05/2011 18:25

good luck for tonight mbj. Hope you had fun at the theatre.

Penguin how was your scan? Hope you get some improvement on the sleep front now she's not feeding.

Our scan went well, phew. Ds is feeding a lot (relatively) as he's off his solids. Wish it was a little less nocturnal but hey.

MummyBerryJuice · 19/05/2011 18:59

Well, as I have said before, I'm a complete wimp. I've chickened out. Again. Grin

DS's nose is streaming, and he's struggling to breathe. I don't think it would be fair on him to CC now. However, I do think that we will probably go ahead and do CC when he is better.

Did you get a good look, Moonface? Glad to hear everything was alright.

OP posts:
MoonFaceMamaaaaargh · 19/05/2011 20:18

I don't blame you for putting it off under those circumstances. That's not wimpy! It's compassionate!

Got a good clear profile of the face! It looks huge but i'm telling myself they zoomed in to do all their checks! Grin

MummyBerryJuice · 19/05/2011 20:38

Sweet Smile. Am I right to think you're waiting to find out if you're having a boy or a girl?

Took ages to get him to sleep tonight and I was getting very, very irritated BUT he did end up falling asleep (in my arms) without feeding. Poor lad couldn't really breathe and feed Sad. Might be a step in the right direction though

OP posts:
MoonFaceMamaaaaargh · 19/05/2011 21:45

yes we are waiting. Smile

There must be something going on tonight, ds has only just settled, and is now asleep on my lap. Glad you've had a bit of an accidental feeding break...hope it continues through the night. Smile

PenguinArmy · 20/05/2011 03:44

Scan went well, we're having a boy. Lost count of the number of times people have said 'one of each'

She only woke twice last night so a 6 times improvement on the night before Grin That's a typical good night for us.

MBJ Of course you're not a wimp, your adapting to your child's need. Even the more rigid books say to not do anything when they're ill.

MummyBerryJuice · 20/05/2011 04:38

Ooooh, one of each!

Grin

I know I'm not really being a wimp, just feels like it sometimes. I'm not 100% myself either, really sore throat and headachey, so probably a contributing factor to my general 'lowness'

OP posts:
MoonFaceMamaaaaargh · 20/05/2011 06:40

Great news penguin! Grin

Ds only woke once briefly last night, after not going down till silly late. So i'm laid in beef with a cuppa now waiting for him to awake! Luxury! Smile

MoonFaceMamaaaaargh · 20/05/2011 06:43

I'm laid in bed. Beef would be awful! Shock

PenguinArmy · 20/05/2011 06:46

especially since I'm a vegan Grin that was not a pretty image

MoonFaceMamaaaaargh · 21/05/2011 08:50

No, i. Veggy so it was pretty repulsive to me too! Grin

We've had two good solids nights of sleep here...one small feed per night. The price i'm paying is losing my evening...ds went down and 9.45 both times. Then up at 6.15ish. I don't mind the early morning....rather that than a late night. But it isn't a very long night for a lo. He had long naps yesterday so i'm going to try and shorten them today...though i'm loath to wake him...just a bit more clattering around me thinks. He still has two naps but i think this is unusual at 15m? He sleeps terribly at night on days he has one nap so i'm reluctant to encourage him to drop it...

Is your dd still self weaning penguin? I hear these things can stop and start. Is she sleeping better? How are you feeling?

And are you all still under the weather mbj? Any sleep? Planning on giving cc a go soon?

MummyBerryJuice · 21/05/2011 09:42

I'm a resolute carnivore and it was even repulsive to me!

DS still has 2 naps on occasion (usually when he has been a little shit had a difficult night) but he's never been a good sleeper even when very little.

Sleep atrocious. All three of us where in the same bed last night and he was restless and wanting to suck from about 3am. He also was slightly disturbed by his favourite playmate (daddy) being in bed with us. DH usually moves to the spare room when DS comes in with me.

I'm sure we will be CC soon. Still vert snotty though.

Am very [env] of both your sleep.

OP posts:
PenguinArmy · 22/05/2011 02:23

She's still weaned. I know if I offer she'll have some, but haven't yet (even though I was at home today and really wanted to). She doesn't ask, but she never did anyway.

My left boob has gone quite lumpy now and it looks like I have more milk as well.

Sleep we've had a mixture of better and worse nights but I think overall it's getting better, just because I don't have to get up (DH has been seeing exclusively to her so she doesn't want me).

hope the snot ends soon

MummyBerryJuice · 22/05/2011 09:07

You should probably express the left side to prevent mastitis.

OP posts:
AnnekaNI · 22/05/2011 14:05

I breastfed my son through last pregnancy, no dip in supply just sore nipples at times. I now tandam feed both sons and still going a few times a day with 2 year old.

MummyBerryJuice · 23/05/2011 13:26

Hi Anneka

Glad to have you.

We've installed blackout blinds on all our upstairs windows and there was a significant improvement in DS's sleep last night. Still woke a few times but much less frequently and was less restless. So fingers crossed.

OP posts:
PenguinArmy · 24/05/2011 05:31

That's great MBJ

Boob getting less lumpy although milk of course is now pouring out. I so want to feed her, but I know I'll be doing it for me and the last thing her sleep needs is getting fed in the night and I can't think of a time that would work. Bad night last night but we were in a motel, I think tonight might be bad as her naps weren't great (but we were at universal studios).

good luck to everyone else :)

MummyBerryJuice · 24/05/2011 06:19

Ah, yes. I can see that it would be best to keep her weaned.

I still get the occasional sharp, stabbing pains in my left nipple, especially at night Sad. DH and I are back in the same bed. It's great. DS still joins us but now it's closer to 1am whereas it was 10ish before and he is so much less restless we can all stay in together. Smile

MoonFaceMamaaaaargh · 24/05/2011 20:38

Hi all, Smile

Been busy here, but sleep ok (well, excellent really but don't want to tempt fate...)

Hope your engorgement is better penguin.

Hope the blackout blinds are working mbj.
