hi

ive heard you can add to a pot of expressed bm in the fridge but does it matter if i add to the same pot the day after or do i need to keep it separate? basically ive expressed some milk today, and will express again tomorrow, for a bottle to be used on friday ie two days time.

and can my dh transport the bottle (to his parents house for a visit) at normal temperature? how long will it last?

many thanks

Not sure about that one muslimah28 as I never did get on with expressing. On the few times I did I used freezer bags, have you tried those?

This leaflet says to use a different container each day.

Hope you have a nice break on Friday and its worth all the expressing Smile

if i expressed separate wee bits of milk, i normally chilled them separately and then mixed them and warmed them just before feeding. i think i read here or on Kellymom not to mix them after chilling one lot with the other still warm. although i think we may have mixed them once they were both chilled and then DH transported them (to his parents too!) in a cool bag.

i expressed loads when i went back to work when my DS was 6 months, he's 18 mo and it's a bit hazy now Blush

can get away with no expressing these days. :)

You can mix two day's milk together, but they both have to be fridge cold before you mix, otherwise you will be warming up the original milk when you add the new body temp milk to it.

Then use it by the best before date of the original milk.

Guidelines here on Kellymom.

Fine to use milk from Wednesday on Friday, it will last 4-6 hours at room temperature but if it was me I would take a little coolbag with an ice pack in it to transport if possible.
