Dd2 is 11 months and breastfeeding 2-3 times a day and once in the night still. This is ok, right?!
I breastfed dd1 until she was 16 months but she went onto follow on milk and it was the devils own job getting her off the bloody stuff.
So, this time am aiming for straight boob to cows milk transition BUT have no clue how to go about it. Help please?

We went straight to cows milk at 12 months with DS1 and DS2.

The advice we were given in giving up bf was the 'don't offer / don't refuse' rule. DS1 and DS2 were far to busy to bf in the day so this wasn't a problem.

Cutting out the before bed feed was a different story and needed a complete change of routine but they both forgot fairly soon. I also found that the night time wake ups disappeared much quicker when I stopped the bed time feed. Similarly the first thing in the morning bf also needed a complete change of routine with a drink and a snack available - although neither were really bothered about this.

As for introducing cow's milk I decided that milk was a drink to be drunk from an open top cup at meal times. This reduced the need for any special cups between meals as they have water between meals (no messy spills!)

Both DS1 and DS2 treated cow's milk like poison when I first introduced it but after being offered it every meal time for a couple of weeks they both now love it.

I remember worrying with DS2 how it was all going to happen even though I had been through it with DS1 so don't worry it will all sort itself out before you realise it. I eventually stopped bf both DS1 and DS2 at 15 months and that is my plan for DS3.
