Will I still be able to bf once back at work...?

I'm going back to work (2 days) in a month - dd will be 7.5months. It's unlikely I'll be able to express while there, as I'm a primary school teacher, and finding the time (never mind space!) to express during the school day is pretty impossible.

So...if dd had bottles/cups of milk during the day on those 2 days, will I still be able to feed her all the other days of week (and on those days in morn/when I get home from work anyway) - or will milk start to go as I'll have several days in a row every week with no feeding from 7.15-4.30?

Thanks in advance.

Identical situation, watching with interest !!

Yes!
I know one baby who stayed at home with daddy (SAHD) while mum went to work from 6m who starved herself all day and then fed like a demon when mum was around!

So you can feed her at 7am and 4.30pm? And I'd guess at bedtime and once in the night/early morning too - I'd think that would be fine to sustain your supply, she'd probably only need one bottle/cup of milk during the day. My 7.5 month old only feeds 4 times a day at the moment, and only 3 times on his two nursery days, and we're doing fine.

You should be able to feed more often on the days you are home with no problem either.

Went back to work full time when daughter was nine months, gave up expressing pdq as she didn't like expressed milk, but fed evenings and nights instead - until she was 18 months old. She just had water and solids during the day, and from a year old onwards cow's milk (but never was a big fan of that either)

I know several people who managed this fine so hopefully you will be too. One friend fed morning and night until after her DCs were 1yr old, and BF exclusively on her non-working days.

I stopped BF before going back to work, partly by choice and partly to avoid buying new suits, as BF boobs didn't fit into work clothes...!

I worked 2 days a week to start with and never expressed and supply coped just fine. DD just had more on the days we were together. Good luck.

Yes you can.

Identical situation (apart from the teaching bit) and I did, it worked for us.

To start with, I expressed every day so that I could make 2 x 5oz bottles for my work days. I fed her first thing, as soon as I got home and before bed (and overnight).

She's now nearly 10mo, and the last three weeks has cut out one bottle each day. I'm now working 3 days a week and it's been fine. Just make sure you feed plenty on the days you are together so your boobs know there are days when they need to make more milk Grin

And good luck - it's an adjustment going back, but you'll be fine Smile

You'll be fine, just when you get home be more generous with feeding to let him catch up if he has no/little bottles while you're away.

Since it's only two days you don't need much expressed milk so you could get that during the week. AT 7.5 months we had DD on one 3oz bottle at lunchtime.

She coudn't reverse cycle as she was such a bad sleeper anyway, but for some people this is too much.
