I have a friend who has been feeding her 15week old since birth. Since day 1 she had cracked nipples and infections.

She has had support to get the latch correct however the crackled nipples have not heald dispite all the cream, leaving them to dry, expressing, countless GP, feeding advisors etc. they just won't heal.

Any advice as she is so so so upset!

Many thanks

Not an expert Bertie but yes I can diagnose including posterior ones [wink.

Yes I know a bit about labial ties too but not where to get them divided - I'd suggest contacting the tongue tie team at Southampton and asking if they know where to get them divided. They can cause problems with bf if the top lip can't flange, can cause gappy front teeth and are often torn during childhood accidents.

i had a massive gash in one of my nipples for about 8 weeks and i mean massive! created by a tongue tied baby. I tried most things but in the end the doctor gave me some strong steroid cream, and it healed it took about a week and i had to apply and then wipe it off before every feed but it did heal.

Thanks all. She went back again to GP (he now knows her nipples well!). She has Jelonet and some Daktocort, so fingers crossed!

THANKS SO MUCH!
