Thanks for letting me know Winky have sent the letter to Andrew twatface Lansley and will write to my MP later.

Really can't believe they are being so shortsighted Sad

Good, 'cos the ones I know don't do any hands on breast feeding support. Its all about audits, etc.

I'm more concerned about the fact our hospital are getting rid of the peer support workers on the wards who are the ones who actually sit with the mums and help them b/f. Maybe if they got rid of IFC's they could reinstate these.

Ah, didn't see this Blush so started another thread here.

Viva -this is not about hospital infant feeding leads, this is about the national level policy team in the Department of Health. If there's no-one at national level to care about and champion breastfeeding, do we really think anyone will bother to commission local bf support services Confused? Especially groups of GPs or private companies employed by GPs to do the commissioning for them? It's not even clear whether responsibility for breastfeeding support will sit with GPs, Local Authorities or Public Health England once PCTs have gone. It could so easily fall down a crack whilst no-one notices...

This makes me bloody furious. A friend of mine had real trouble breastfeeding and was completely left on her own struggling. Her DD ended up losing 20% of her body weight (despite her telling healthcare professionals that she hadn't been for a poo for 11 days!) and my poor friend was left teetering on the edge of PND as a result, feeling like a bad mother. So utterly short sighted. I most certainly will be writing a strongly worded letter to Mr Lansley. Makes my blood boil.
