Hi there. Quick question - DD is nearly two weeks. How soon can I start expressing? I dont want to leave it too late so she wont accept a bottle. I want to be able to let hubby feed her soon as well. Many thanks x

Starting expressing and starting trying a bottle are two seperate things...but ideally wait until 4-6 weeks so your supply is pretty stable. Do remember that pumping is an extra demand for milk so your supply will need to adjust.

FWIW, giving a bottle now doesn't mean your LO will always take one. Nor does not giving a bottle by 6 weeks mean they'll never take one.

Hi, I started expressing when DD was a few days old as she was prem and tube fed. I introduced a bottle at 6 weeks with EBM (BF was very much established at this point) and she initially loved it, however despite the fact that we gave a bottle every few days she decided at 10 weeks that she would under no circumstances think about having a bottle, I think my point is even if you follow all the guidelines some babies just seem to know what they want and it may not always be the same as you (unfortunately) Good luck with it all x
