Moving from BF to FF - CAN'T POO!

For the last week or so, i have been giving my 17 week old DD 1 bottle of formula a day, always the same one at around 7pm in the evening. Up until then she was EBF. She normally poos every 1-2 days but i have noticed that since we introduced the bottle (Aptamil), she is struggling to poo. She hasn't pooed for 4 days now and she keeps straining and trying to but nothing is happening. This is the same situation as we had at the start of last week as well. When her poo comes, it looks normal, i.e. not log like. We have been doing the cycling legs thing (which she thinks is great fun!) but to no avail. She has never had water.
Is this a normal situation? How long will it take her tummy to get used to the change? What else can i do to help her? She seems uncomfortable and frustrated! Please help a beautiful baby girl!

Cooled boiled water between feeds seems to be recommended a lot for FF babies and/or constipation. I'm not sure what else you could do (other than stop the formula).

Are you filling water up to the meniscus? Scientists often don't and it makes a massive difference.

Maybe you could drop the formula for a couple of days and see if that helps.

Apart from that maybe a bath and some massage.

Also, you could try a different brand of formula.

I will try some cool boiled water thanks. I don't want to stop the bottle really cos i want her to get used to it!

Are you planning on switching to FF? If not, why not give ebm so she can get used to having a bottle without the health issues from formula?

i add an extra oz of water to my DS formular feeds then they look just like his poos did when he was BF as when you BF the fore milk is like a drink to babies then the hine milk is the rich stuff! i found when switching my DS to FF (which i hated but BF and expressing just wasn't happening didnt have the right support long story!) he got very constipated so added an extra 0z of water to each feed sorted him out within 24 hours hope this helps x
