Bottle or beaker??

Hi,

My DS is almost 7 months and is having 4 bottles a day, which he is able to feed himself.

I heard that you are supposed to encourage baby to drink milk from a beaker from 6 months?? I have treid getting him to drink water from a beaker, he can hold ot but can't ge the hang of drinking from it!

Anyone else had problems with the beaker???

Dd is nearly nine months and she still only has water in her beaker, she hasn't really got the hang of it either!! I think 'they say' after year they shouldn't be having bottles and I would have thought soon enough your ds will be down to 2 bottles a day anyway. I would carry on doing what you are doing for now

Thanks for advice! do you think it makes a difference if they have sofrt or hard spout on beaker?

I'm not sure to be honest, I have a friend who found the transition easier with a soft one, but we went straight onto the hard one and it was the one the HV recommended
