hi this is quite a shallow question i know but i just wondered if you could share your experiences with me before i nip over to S&B and start planning a new wardrobe?!

i cant really remember from DS as was pg when he stopped feeding, but after you slow down/stop BF do you pile all the weight you have lost whilst feeding back on?

at the moment i am still feeding DD lots but have to go back to work soon so obviously her daytime feeds will decrease. my pre preg clothes dont fit that well so before i shell out on new stuff am i likely to put the weight on again?

am thinking that when she decreases her feeds the cake and biscuit diet i have been on will have to stop Sad

I think your weight should not go up just as long as you cut out the extra calories you are eating due to feeding! I did loose the baby weight with both of mine through BF and it didn't all pile back on when I stopped. Although my weight sometimes creeps up a little now, I can keep it down by cutting out junk etc.

I lost all my baby weight breastfeeding, stopped a month ago and am now back on weightwatchers! It's purely down to eating crap though which I could get away with while bfing bit can't now!

I found it really hard to lose weight while BF, when I stopped it came off. Weird but I know others who have said the same.

I'm the same as summerlightening - weight just fell off when I stopped last time. Hoping the same thing will happen this time (typing one handed, Green & Blacks in other Grin)
i think body needs certain amount of fat to produce milk...

sorry have only just got around to logging back on - thank you all for sharing your exps so it seems it really is different for everyone then. have always had a tendancy to put on weight so looks like i will have to cut down on my cake and biscuits Sad

i ended up a stone lighter than pre pregnancy, i have noticed the weight creeping back on in the last few months though. DS is nearly 18 months so only having 2-3 feeds a day now.

i probably still snack a bit too much really.

I put ON weight Bfeeding. If I didn't eat lots I didn't have enought milk. The BF helps you lose weight thing just was not true for me at all.

The more noticeable change was that my appetite decreased sharply so I had to reduce the size of my meals accordingly and not automatically clear my plate even if I felt full.

tanmu82 · 16/03/2011 15:37

mine is up - but it's because bf'ing makes me so damn hungry! And when you are sat bf on the couch, it is sooo nice to have a cuppa and a packet of biscuit Blush
