stopping bf after 6 months- lumpy boobs!

After EBF for 5 months I started to drop a feed every 5 days/week, DS is now 6.5 months and hasn't been bf in nearly a week. I hadn't noticed any adverse reaction to my boobs but today one is very hard and lumpy and milk started to come out during a bath. Is this normal? What should I do about this? Express a little or leave it and let nature take its course?

ME TOO!!!

I haven't fed in 3 days, and just the one is really hard and lumpy and quite sore... watching thread with interest!

also wondering whether expressing will help or hinder?

No experience of stopping, but I'd express enough off to be comfy TBH. Blocked ducts can get really painful and you don't want it to develop into mastitis!

True ... will express in a bit, and see how I go!
Thanks. Grin

Mine took over two weeks to go from lumpy back to normal when I stopped. It does take a while.
