Child's reaction to bf - normal or sad?

At the weekend I visited my friend with my newborn ds. Her four year old ds was fascinated by the baby, and kept stroking him and talking to him, which was lovely. Then when I fed my ds, my friends son was laughing and seemed completely shocked and amused by the fact that ds was "eating my booby". I thought this was quite sweet and fairly normal for a four year old, but I was discussing it with another friend today and she said it was sad that a child clearly saw breasts as something taboo and rude. I should add that the boy in question was bf himself as were his 3 siblings. Do you think this was a normal reaction or a sad indictment of the status of breasts and breastfeeding?

Completely normal!!

My DS is 4 and knows boobies feed babies but it doesn't stop him giggling and saying booooobies.

yep it's normal

my eldest is 6 and still gets silly when i breastfeed his brother!

I think it is normal too.

I don't think it's that he sees breasts as taboo or rude - just that they're a body part you don't normally see, and boobies are funny to a 4 year old!

He is very normal!

My DS is 4 and was BF for 2 years and thinks boobies are funny and giggles etc he thinks willies and bums are funny too Grin and loves it if his willy pops over his pants when he pulls them up Grin

My DS doesn't find "boobies" rude or something you don't normally see. Not sure if that's good or not...

He is, however, very aware that breastfeeding is something "that ladies do", as he resolutely bottle feeds his baby doll.

Completely normal. I'm BFing DD, and DS (age 3.9) is totally obsessed. I asked him what he did at nursery the other day and he said 'I told everyone all about boobiejuice and your MASSIVE boobies Mammy.'. Erm... thanks. I think...

We recently had my had my 3 yo nephew overnight and he was amazed by me BF my DD. He kept asking if he could help and then sitting on my knee with his hand very gently resting on top of my boob "holding it" for DD.

The next day when his mum picked him up he said "mummy, DD gets her milky milk from auntie Jo's top belly". Soo cute. We then showed him some video of him being BF by my SIL. He loved it.
