Mastitis?

Ds isn't feeding as much at night (but still wakes up to have a quick snack!) this morning, my left boob was engorged and quite sore.
Now he's fed from it, I've noticed a red blotch around the top of the nipple with a red line going up from it.
It's still quite sore in a bruised way.
I can't f eel any lumps as such, but the breast tissue feels slightly thicker.
I don't feel ill at all.
I put a hot flannel on it earlier and expressed a bit off.
Anything else I should be doing?
Thankyou :)
(Ds is Tongue tied and feeding is quite painful at the moment anyway, so I'm wondering if this is the next step :( He has a referral to see a paed, but not for three weeks)

Definitely sounds like the beginnings of mastitis to me (not a health professional though). Get it sorted before it becomes horrible!

My suggestion is to keep doing what you're doing, but I found a hot water bottle better than a hot flannel as it stays a lot hotter for a lot longer. I would also suggest you get a GP appointment so they can check you out and give antibiotics if necessary - you really don't want to get full blown mastitis.

Hope it goes away without any further pain, and hope tongue-tied-ness gets sorted soon.

lll would suggest plenty of fluids, rest, empty breast fully and regularly through feeding and take ibuprofen to help with swelling.
