FF and water softener

Hi everyone,

I EBF until DS was 6months and have just stopped breastfeeding

He's now 9months and has a couple of ff a day.

However, we moved house a while ago and it comes with a water softener. We just opened the unit and it says 'Do not use softened water for powdered milk'.

So freaking out a bit as he's had all of his ff using our tap water.. plus he drinks tap water.

Does anyone know anything about softened water and ff, what the issues are and whether he's allowed tap water but just not formula made using tap water (which doesn't seem to make sense).

Any advice welcome!

is it not salts that they use to soften the water so the water has more minerals and will be saltier than the water they should drink
