Think I have thrush

I have stinging in my left nipple during and after feeds. It's mild, just nippy. No symptoms in dd. I am guessing thrush, I can't think what else it could be.

BFN info here

Not latching funny/getting teeth through?

Any broken areas?

neepsntatties · 28/02/2011 22:44

No teeth, she's a month old. No broken skin. Am really scared it's thrush. Think latch is ok.

IIRC thrush tends to be quite a deep stabby sort of pain, not had it myself.

Maybe give one of the helplines a ring in the morning to talk things through? Then you can arrange something with the GP if needed.

Any blanching of the nipples or does it look misshapen when she comes off? And is she feeding well?

National Breastfeeding helpline 0300 100 0212

Am a bit trained but not a BFC, they can help you better than meGrin

'Not latching funny' probably a clue that I am not a BFC...it's late. Let us know how you get on.

There is a group on tomorrow so will try to get to that. Maybe it's latch, I had cracked nipples at the start, healed now. Fed over an hour ago and am still stinging.

Could be thrush - mine started as just tingling in my nipples. I'd book an apt with the GP TBH.

I wish I had. Spoke to hv who told me to wait and see and now I am in more pain. Will phone first thing tomorrow but have to get through the night first. Am cross that treatment has been delayed.

I had thrush on and off for nearly ten weeks, didn't know i had it for a while....the sign for me was having a shower and the water actually causing pain. You can always buy Daktarin from the chemist over the counter as that's all they will prescribe you anyway and see if it helps, may soothe the pain and stop the itching?

neepsntatties · 04/03/2011 02:50

I have a prescription, something that starts with n for dd and pills for me. Middle of the night so can't remember!
