Hi just wondered if anyone else get this/if it's normal and if anyone knows why it happens. When I BF I always feel slightly nauseaus the whole time. I happened to mention it to my SIL and she agreed, are we just two weirdos?!

not me Smile

Not me, but it could be due to the drop in dopamine levels as dopamine affects the chemoreceptor zone that causes nausea. I know I've read that some people get depression related to bfing affecting dopamine levels...

I got this for the first month or so, was a bit like feeling sick on a rollercoaster. It's either worn off or I'm used to it now. Very strange!

PrettyCandles · 01/03/2011 06:51

How old is the baby?

I got this for the first few weeks with dc2 and more intensely with dc3. I think it was after-pains, as it was vry similar to the nausea I used to get during periods pre-dc1. Also, with dc3 it was accompanied by mild cramps.

It eased over the weeks, and afterwards only happened occasionally.

I had it mildly for the first couple of weeks but it soon wore off? Is LO new?

Baby is 8 months now! I thought it was just me as I get sick at everything, cars, homevideos etc but then SIL agreed and it got me wondering.

I don't want to freak you out but I got this when pg and breastfeeding. Could you be pregnant?

PrettyCandles · 01/03/2011 21:39

Probably not after-pains, then!

But OTOH, maybe it is, sort of.

Breastfeeding can continue to cause uterine contractions after everything down there has recovered from pregnancy and giving birth. (Some women even find that the uterine contractions caused by breastfeeding give them a sensation very similar to orgasm.) Perhaps that is what you are feeling.

DirgeInVegas · 02/03/2011 13:32

Apparently you nausea during let-down isn't uncommon, especially on an empty stomach (came across that little bit of info whilst googling something else).

I still feel nauseous when bf and ds is 4 months. Really puzzled me at first because I'd be hungry, get some food and then all of a sudden feel a bit sick and not fancy it anymore. Really strange until I connected it with bf!

Andie20521 · 02/03/2011 14:25

I find if I am full and BF then I get nausea. I cant eat whilst dd is drinking either! Made it difficult in those first weeks when she seemed permantly on the boob!

MmaIvvy · 03/03/2011 21:19

At least I'm not alone! I really hope its not pg, I can't deal with 4 under 6!! Thanks
