How long can it last in the freezer? I have a huge supply of it in there (took an inventory tonight) and dont want to waste it by leaving it too long!

Some websites say 3 months, some say 6 Confused

Mine's been in since last June and is still OK.

Depends on the freezer and how often it's opened etc.

But mine is a top freezer (forgot the name) i.e. not a separate chest freezer. Just use the sniff test, if it defrosts and smells OK, then it is OK.

The instructions that came with my new Medela pump yesterday said 6 months in the freezer bit in a fridge (-16 degrees) and 12 months in a deep freeze (-18 degrees). I think most freezers that are seerate to the fridge (i.e. have their own sealed door) are -18 degrees.

As PenguinArmy says though, if it smells ok, then it is ok Smile It is the same as freeziung cows milk really - if it smelt ok when you'd defrosted it, you'd use it, right?

The donor breast milk banks recommend 3 months for freezing Expressed breast milk.
EBM will then last 24hrs from taking it out of the freezer.36hrs from been freshly expressed and stored in a fridge.1hr if it has been heated through.
Hope this helps xx

I read 8 days from being expressed and stored in fridge on askdrsears!
