Enough BFs for a 7.5m old?

DS is 7.5 and just started nursery. Though he eats his meals ( not alot but does eat them) he is refusing bottles of either formula or ebm there.

Has BFs with me in the morning, 2 and then about 2 on return late afternoon, 1 before bed and inevitably 2 in the night - sometimes more unfortunately.

Is this enough? He effectively goes up to 8 hours in the day without but has water and food.

Sounds ok to me... He will probably make sure he gets enough - as it sounds like he is doing. I think DS probably had about that number of BFs at that age. Just more spread out as I was at home.

Your DS may also take bottles more as he gets older and more settled at nursery. Some people go into the nursery to BF but I guess that's not an option for you?

Anyway, it sounds fine to me I wouldn't worry :)

Thanks.

No can't make it into nursery unfortunately.

7 feeds in 24 hours sounds pretty normal - if he was ravenously hungry in the day he'd probably accept a bottle. Have the nursery said if he seems cheerful or miserable during his time there?

My nephew never took breast milk off breast at all and bf until he was 2. My daughter is only 8.5 months and is the same - they take as much as they need.

Thanks. Seems happy enough at nursery.

My 8 month old DD goes from around 7.30 to 4.30 or 5 without milk. Her choice - she'll drink water from a cup but not EBM. Her pattern is similar to your DS's.

Thanks for that - feel better about it. I guess if he was starving he would take the formula so he is making a choice. Would feel better if he ate a bit more though.
