Help I'm in agony! TEETH!

I really wanted to bf till dd self weaned but now at 13 months she is really digging her teeth in and my nipples are surrounded by cuts and sore bits! I'm only managing to carry on by altering how I hold her each feed so she's gnawing on a different place! I just announced this morning in tears that I had had enough and tonight dh can put her to bed with a bottle, but this clearly isn't going to work as she's never had a bottle before. So, advice please on:

  1. Can I stop her from hurting me? I've tried to explain, I've tried removing and re-attaching her but to no avail!

  2. How do I stop bfing when she's used to feeding to sleep every night and has never had a bottle?

AAAAAAH!

Thanks

If you do decide to stop just give her a cup of milk instead. That's all I did and none of mine objected. She might surprise you.

I feel your pain. Ds 11 months is doing this and each time he bites I unnattach, say a firm no, reattach. If he keeps doing it, I take him off for ten mins and try again. Not perfect but does work some of the time.

Thanks Mollys, I think this is what we'll try. Thankfully dd isn't actually biting, it's more that her teeth are just digging in a bit all the time! Slowly rubbing me raw! AAAH!

If it's becoming an ordeal for you then I think it is probably time to stop. She's 13 months so you've done really well to get to this point.

Distract her with a story.

I dreaded this point with mine - felt a bit sad - but it's actually quite nice for everyone that DH (or Grannies) can take a turn putting them to bed.
